Your vote is your voice
Carlos became a citizen in October 2022 and was on the County Council two years later. Here is how to make sure you are registered, find out whether you live in District 2, and vote when the seat is on the ballot again.
Do you live in District 2?
District 2 is the west side of Salt Lake County. It covers Copperton, Herriman, Kearns, Magna, South Jordan, West Jordan and West Valley City. Parts of Herriman and South Jordan fall in neighboring districts, so check your address before you assume.

Register, check, vote
- Register or check your registration. Utah citizens register, update their address and check their status at voter.utah.gov. New citizens can register the same day they are naturalized.
- Watch your mailbox. Utah votes mostly by mail. Ballots go out about three weeks before each election to every active registered voter.
- Return your ballot. Mail it (postmarked the day before the election) or drop it in an official drop box. You can also vote in person at a county vote center. The County Clerk lists drop boxes, vote centers and deadlines.
- Track it. The state portal shows when your ballot was mailed, received and counted.
When is Carlos on the ballot?
November 2028. Salt Lake County Council seats serve four-year terms. Carlos was elected in November 2024, so the District 2 seat is next on the general election ballot in November 2028, with the party primary in June 2028.
Exact election dates are set by the state and published by the County Clerk.
